Re: Police arrest 6-year-old girl
And mom has the nerve to chalk up the little girl's behavior to, "She has mood swings some days, which all of us had mood swings some days," Johnson's mother Constance Ruff told WMAZ. "I guess that was just one of her bad days." WTF!!!!
The mom and dad of this child should pay for the damage to the property and for the medical expenses of the children and the principal assaulted. They also need to stop publicly trying to get sympathy and instead take this raving brat to the back room and tear her ass up!
My son was recently assaulted on the bus by an 8-year old and the school has yet to figure out how to handle this hoodlum. So you can preach your liberal belief on child rearing elsewhere.
Spanking is not child abuse and doesn't damage a child. There is a HUGE difference between discipline and abuse and I'm beyond pissed at seeing kids throwing tantrums in restaurants, being knocked into by some brat running around senseless in a store while I'm trying to shop, and hearing elementary-aged children talking like they think they are grown! Just because you are okay with your child being a brat doesn't mean the rest of us should be forced to suffer with your lack of parenting.
Police in Georgia arrested a 6-year-old girl for a temper tantrum. Ask the school to stop using police on elementary students. Sign Constance's PetitionKATIE -
Salecia Johnson is six years old. On April 13, her teachers say she had a temper tantrum in class -- but instead of putting her in time-out, the school called the police.
Salecia was handcuffed, charged with battery, and kept in police custody for an hour before her parents found out what was going on. Though all charges have been dropped, Salecia -- a 6-year-old -- now has an arrest record.
Salecia's mom, Constance, says that "Salecia has been traumatized by this experience. She's afraid to return to school and recently woke up in the middle of the night saying 'they are coming to get me.'" Constance wants to make sure that this incident won't affect Salecia's future, and she wants answers about why police officers were involved in the first place.
Constance believes that what happened to Salecia is part of a larger problem. Schools across America are adopting "zero-tolerance" policies that are making police involvement in school disciplinary matters more and more common, according to the Advancement Project, a group working with Constance's family.
If thousands of people sign Constance's petition, the police and the officials at Creekside Elementary will see that they can't arrest and handcuff a six-year-old girl without facing public consequences. Schools around the country will take notice -- and Constance hopes there won't be another child that faces what Salecia did.

Food Stamps Shouldn't Buy Candy and Chips
Yes, I'm venting. Seeing crap like that really pisses me off. If you can afford to get your hair and nails done you don't need government cheese!
I will always believe food stamps should be only used for nutritious purchases. For those who have to budget and make every dollar count junk food is a luxury. Actually, no matter what anyone wants to say or think, candy, chips, soda, cookies, etc are exactly that. Junk food is a luxury not a necessity. And I will always stand behind the fact that food stamps should be for necessities! You want junk food then you should buy it with your hard earn money, not the hard-earned money of the US taxpayer.
Also, a lot of women living with their children's father and he makes good money but she gets government assistance. It's wrong. I'm just sick of so much government waste but they want to cut benefits to veterans. Or maybe I'm too conservative for some people. But welfare should come with drug testing and in-home investigations. If a woman is going to saying her and her children live alone then there should be no problem with a social worker verifying that (preferably in an unannounced visit).
And you should never get something for nothing. You want government assistance then you are inviting government scrutiny into your life. The application asks certain questions and I stand behind that a social worker should do a home check to verify the information the applicant filled out and signed certifying that they have given truthful information and they know know that if its found to not be truthful or they abuse their responsibilities they the penalties and agree to that. I've seen the liars. People who "play" system because they have this delusion that they deserve it or whatever their mediocre reason is for draining a drained system. If the government cracked down on those milking the system that would be one step to cleaning up a deficit.
Just because I'm conservative doesn't mean I would not support a way to cut down and limit government waste through home checks. Being conservative means I support with reducing government programs like this as much as possible. Limit how long a person can use government assistance I would support. Someone being on it for infinite time because they make minimum wage, I don't support. Maybe food stamps should be more like WIC; give out checks that cover up for a certain amount for so much meat, so much vegetables, fruit, and milk. I would support that. Did I mention that if someone can afford to smoke, I also think they could afford food.
And if you want to point out someone would choose to smoke over food for their kids, when the kid shows up for school malnourished or obese (from cheap junk), the teacher should refer a social worker to the family. How is an obese child any different from a malnourished child when it comes to child abuse?
My final point, if you are hungry and truly need the help, take what you are given. If you want options, get a job (or a 2nd job) and shut up.
